Litz yarn is made up of dozens or even thousands of fine filaments twisted together, making it relatively "loose". Nylon has excellent abrasion resistance. During winding (especially high-speed winding on automatic winding machines) and installation, it protects the delicate inner enameled wire from scratches and abrasion. If the insulation of the enameled wire is damaged, it can cause short circuits between the strands, rendering the Litz wire ineffective (becoming a thick, solid conductor and losing its skin effect resistance advantage).
